St. Mary’s Catholic School Curriculum
These Diocesan Curriculum Overviews are adapted from the Fall River Diocesan Curriculum Guidelines. They outline the content and skills taught/learned in each discipline and in each grade level.
Curriculum Guidelines are available to faculty in all disciplines. Curriculum Overviews are currently available in RELIGION, MATH, SCIENCE, and SOCIAL STUDIES and are posted here for easy reference. As Curriculum Overviews become available in other disciplines, they will also be posted here.
Curriculum Guidelines are developed collaboratively by administrators and teachers from throughout the diocese serving on committees formed in each discipline. The Massachusetts State Frameworks are referenced in the development of the Curriculum Guidelines. Common Core Curriculum is being implemented.
Each school within the diocese develops a local curriculum based upon these Curriculum Guidelines. St. Mary’s localizes its curriculum with teaching/learning related to the local community and with the resources available within it.
On-going Favorites - Spanish I (Gr. 6-8) and Latin enrichment (Gr. 7-8)
Recent additions - Empowering Writers (school-wide writing program) and Algebra I (Grade 8).
New 2012-2013 - Pearson's Envisions Math (Kindergarten - Gr. 3) and Pearson's Timeless Voices, Timeless Themes Literature (Gr. 6).
